But my advice is buy Solarfire gold V8 you won't be sorry and it is simply the most versatile and user friendly software at a reasonable price that you can buy.

Sirius is expensive but if you dabble in other stuff like vedic and hellenistic astrology and use asteroid and fixed stars and other research techniques plus you also already own some kepler report options then you can somewhat justify the expense. I updated from Win 2 to Win 4 only few months ago and frankly regret the decision as not much has really changed since I already had horizons, daywatch, etc., Winstar is so archaic and complicated to use in comparison to the really elegant SF8.

I began with Nova way way back in 80's, so that is why I kept the relationship going with what has now become the Matrix winstar program, as I have most of the report writer software options otherwise I would not have continued and simply kept win writer pro portion. I have to say Matrix winstar 4 is a really distant 3rd, and the only reason to buy or use it at all, is if you have already sunk a lot of money into the report writer options.

I use them for different reasons and mainly to ensure accuracy but Solar fire V8 wins hands down as my favorite charting software, followed closely by the brand new Sirius 1.2 update, due to the recent asteroid report additions and improved ease of use. Example I own and use Solar Fire Gold v8, Sirius 1.2 and Winstar 4. I own a lot of astrology software including the latest versions of some of the bigger major brands to run on windows 7. I'm interested in hearing what trips others' triggers. I hope others will post their likes/dislikes, etc. I couldn't find it through the may not still be there, it was some time ago. Once before I put a post up showing the Timeline outputs from Janus, Solar Fire, and Kepler. Kepler (I think Sirius, now) had a lot of varied and interesting data reports, but you couldn't progress a chart's angles by the Sun's Right Ascension, so fundamentally flawed. Most visually appealing (and intuitive user-interface, I think) and enjoyable to customize? Possibly Janus.but it won't (directly) put up the converse transits/progressions against a natal. in this program will likely bypass your Venus! Software with the most features? Possibly Solar Fire.but it could use some visual enhancement. What are the most important features to you? If you're buying new software (and if you were running old WinStar, I would), then you have to prioritize. If you don't have the basic version of Windows 7, you should have a complete complement of Windows XP built-in.

You did try the XP compatibility mode, right? Right-click the icon and choose something that I think says Compatibility Options or something close to that (not at my Windows 7 machine now) and a window opens up with an option to run in XP compatibility mode. At least it paved the way for a new, improved system. I was looking at Astrowin, but I can't tell from the site whether it's Windows 7 compatible or not, and as I am unfamiliar with the product and developer I hesitate to download the software blind. Free is always a good price, but I am mindful of the adage, "you get what you pay for." If anyone wants to comment on those I would also be receptive. Preliminary research also reveals some freeware out there. I have time to do a meaningful comparison. 2 on my laptop so I don't need to make an immediate decision. In the meanwhile I can still run WinStar V. Accordingly, I would appreciate hearing from fans of each. I know it has many devotees in this forum. But as the opportunity presents itself I am also willing to consider other options like Solar Fire.

I like Matrix's work, and am willing to upgrade to WinStar V.4, a Windows 7 compatible system. Obviously, I'm now in the market for new software. Windows 7 doesn't even give me the option of running an emulator or a compatability program to allow me to keep limping along. Well, my new system runs Windows 7, and WinStar v.2 just won't run.

2, software (yes, I know, it too was old.like me) perfectly. It ran Windows XP (please, no heckling from the Apple fans) and operated my Winstar Plus, V. Doesn't it always work out that way? My desktop died last week.
